Five hundred years ago, the Second Mana War banished magic from the face of the Mana dimension and the sprites were relocated to an unknown place.

When portals between the dimensions began to appear in 59 WB, magic began a slow return to the Mana Dimension (this is the biggest evidence for the argument that the portals and strands are meant to act as mana “aqueducts”). Magic began to work again. This trend continued when Rainere, goddess of Magic and Trade, became patron of Tasnica and with the founding of the Georgethor Institute with the aid of the Tanes.

Because mana levels have risen again, some sprites have begun to return, although they remain exceedingly rare. Of this number is Nopen Feanthas. Confused and baffled, Nopen decided to acquire an aide to help understand the modern world.

Her aide is V3-86F (“Vee-Three”), a fully sentient V-series Forge Mechanicals pilot robot. The cylindrical droid is well versed in vehicular operations. Unfortunately, the confused sprite did not buy a Common translator, so Vee-Three continues to speak in the binary language of beeps and clicks used to communicate with flight interface modules. Nopen has still not purchased the voicebox, but over the years she has learned to understand Vee-Three's speech.

Vee-Three was good natured enough to hack into a local computer and guide Nopen along the Omninet. Through net surfing, he came across a job offer for the Earthblade Mercenaries. Hoping that travelling as part of the goblin's crew would help her to understand the modern Web, Nopen eagerly signed up. She has been Tarvo's main magical support provider ever since.

Nopen is a Mana Summoner. She summons mana elementals to aid her in battle, and has an affinity for Dryad, the Tree-spirit. Through earning the favor of Dryad, Nopen is blessed with the ability to summon all of the more common Mana Elementals (Undine, Salamando, Sylphid, Gnome, Shade, Lumina and Luna) as she likes. She has no rappore with Althenar, Kelthalis or Sola, nor for Ofanite (who is Dryad's polar opposite) or Aura (who appears to be limited to Mana magicians from the Alter Dimension).
