History
Dain Kordridge grew up on a farm. At the age of thirteen, he left home with his closest friend, Anna Dalton, to have adventures in the city. What they found was North Viper under the iron fist of Salynae XXIII, and life was harsh for the young teens. They soon became involved with the Ticonderan Freedom Fighters (TFF), as well as becoming romantically involved with each other. The pair had a natural affinity for espionage, and often worked as a team. When Dain was 16, Anna bore his first child, Chiara. They might have gotten married, but a religious ceremony would invoke Tauroch, while a civil ceremony would invoke Salynae. Being young and irresponsible, Anna and Dain entrusted Chiara, and the two children that followed, to the care of Anna’s parents.
At age 21, Dain had nearly seven years of espionage experience to his credit, and had trained heavily in the art of combat. He had graduated from simple watch-and-listen jobs to breaking and entering, and onwards to infilitration and sabotage. However, on his first mission inside Salynae’s palace, he and Anna were betrayed and captured. Salynae herself threatened to have Anna killed if he did not betray the TFF. In a moment that would forever change his life, Dain demonstrated his defiance by killing Anna himself rather than allowing Salynae’s guardsmen to make her die slowly and painfully. Dain killed several of Salynae’s guards and escaped, but the consequences of his actions and emotions would haunt him forever.
What happened over the next few years has yet to be told, but the records show that he was married, had two more children, and was divorced.
During the Great War, Salynae was deposed by Camilison of the TFF, heir to the rightful king that had been murdered by Salynae. However, Camilison proved to be arrogant and began to look down upon the lower classes, and Dain grew disillusioned with her administration. Dain soon developed ties with the international spy organization known as the OmniSent, and after Camilison was ousted by the communist regime of Caidin, Dain became the OmniSent’s premier agent within Ticondera. Dain entered deep cover inside Caidin’s administration (and was again married with another child). Due to a natural affinity for politics and the patronage system of Caidin’s reign, Dain somehow found himself appointed as the mayor of North Viper.
In 30WR, Ticondera entered a war between the Grand Army and the nations of Kuvalla and Medina, siding against the Grand Army. This proved ill-advised, and Ticondera was soon defeated; Caidin committed suicide. As the Grand Army was marching towards North Viper, the remainder of Caidin’s government was busy killing each other in a vicious power struggle. When the dust settled, it was Dain who presented Ticondera’s surrender; and therefore, it was Dain who was charged with rebuilding the war-ravaged nation.
Dain found it expedient to maintain Caidin’s communist ideology to unite Ticondera behind his administration. The use of a centrally planned economy helped to restore economic order, spearheaded by Dain’s Minister of Economics, Arkady Nicholas. Under Dain’s rule (and Minister of State Reggie Orring’s eye), Ticondera joined GACA, and developed ties with communist Scande and liberal Guardia. Ticondera developed advanced satellite technology and rebuilt its military, by the direction of Minister of Defense Alexander Tory.
Dain’s OmniSent connections created problems for him when the OmniSent went public, and when Rudra Tairen was (supposedly) killed, Dain severed ties with the OmniSent. The mad Roland Boderick took over the OmniSent, and began a reign of terror. In order that Ticondera might be spared Roland’s wrath (for Ticondera was crawling with OmniSent agents due to Dain’s ties), Dain abandoned Ticondera and rejoined the OmniSent, promising Roland support from the Communist Protectorate. Dain’s ministers (led by Prime Minister Carter Derry) were left in charge with no idea where Dain was; they maintained the illusion that Dain was still in charge to preserve order.
However, Dain’s real purpose in joining Roland was to get close enough to the man to stop his plans before he could cripple the Grand Army and kill millions more. As the GA prepared for a standoff outside Albrook against the leashed Tanes of Aryth who were forced to serve Roland, Dain contacted his cabinet of ministers and ordered them to bring the satellites into orbit over Albrook and Ticondera’s army to the battlefield. Dain did not tell them the purpose behind this so as to deceive Roland.
Dain’s plan was to unleash the Verund Cenrum, Marien Othlan, so she could open a hole in the magic barrier created by the leashed Tanes. This would give Dain the opportunity to order the satellites to emit a psychic alpha-wave beam to put the OmniSent army and its Tanes to sleep, allowing the Grand Army to achieve victory without killing the Tanes. When Dain tried to give the order however, he ran into communications problems; yet his cabinet ordered the satellite strike anyway as soon as they discovered the opening. The psychic beam struck at precisely the worst possible time, just as the Grand Army had launched an Ultima Missile, which wiped out the peacefully sleeping Tanes. Dain was believed to have perished (he was actually saved by Marien), and his cabinet denounced him as an OmniSent traitor, never learning the truth. The cabinet kept silent about the Ultima miscommunication, to preserve the stability of GACA and to avoid the wrath of the Celpo, who wished to avoid such a PR nightmare.
Dain disappeared, while the Celpo unsuccessfully hunted for him. The cabinet became unpopular during the Leviathan War, and were thrown from a helicopter by Gail Courtry, the Director of the Iron Guard (security force). Ticondera was plunged into anarchy, eventually becoming four separate nations. Dain’s current whereabouts are unknown, but the Celpo has dispatched five agents to find him, including Charlie Bravo.
His every mannerism oozes with charm, sophistication, and savoir-faire. His eyes are a haunting shade of forest green, and a short, black, trimmed goatee adorns his chin.
