OmniSent

An organization of secret agents founded by Rudra Tairen and Surlent Trakad. Their purpose was to eliminate secrecy from the world and counterbalance the power of the Grand Army. Rudra was overthrown by Roland Boderick, who turned the organization into a weapon against the GA. Rudra helped to defeat him, and the OmniSent was disbanded. Many OmniSenters and their assets were absorbed by The Collective.

OmniSent History

The OmniSent was founded by Rudra and Surlent during the Great War to help fight the Dark Wrath. After the war, they saw the Grand Army and many nations of the Web had lapsed towards tyranny to a degree and sought to make all knowledge public to give citizens the power to rule their governments rather than vice versa. The OmniSent discovered the Gate to Aryth, and used the amazing magics of that world to give them an edge in dealing with the rest of the Web. Roland secretly sent the assassin Proan after King Doan of Guardia, turning opinion sharply against the OmniSent, and then sent a Baneling named Bane to assassinate Rudra, in which he apparently succeeded. Roland controlled the OmniSent by manipulating Surlent and finally killed him to take over himself. He used the resources of the OmniSent to enslave the Tanes of Aryth with leashes, creating a nigh-invincible army of unfathomably powerful magic users. Roland deployed stealth weapons of mass destruction, known as Cylinders, to force the Web to comply with his demands; the Geno Dome was virtually wiped out overnight. The Grand Army defeated the Tanes outside the city of Albrook with a carefully placed Ultima Missile, and Roland retreated to Aryth in his underwater base, Atlantis. The GA followed, and the ensuing Battle of Atlantis saw King Derik of Guardia and many others attack the base while a Zevin terrorized the forces still at Albrook. Faith Weist freed the Tanes still in Aryth, while Rudra (who had been Bane all along), confronted Roland, who saw his final defeat as the base was destroyed. The GA was ultimately victorious, but much damage had been done. Rudra disbanded the paramilitary aspect of the OmniSent and changed its purpose to create and support the OmniNet, a Webwide computer network that would allow anyone in the free world with a computer and a connection to the network to freely exchange information.
