History

Faith's childhood is mostly unremarkable: Born to a middle class family, she was a popular child who excelled in academic pursuits. She had a keen interest in research, technology and engineering, but after a brief stint in college she discovered that most research was being applied to warfare in lieu of the Great War. Having no desire to build weapons that would be responsible for killing millions, she dropped out of college.

Ironically, she joined the GA shortly thereafter. It was her desire to avoid casualties and end the war by being a part of it. Thanks to her keen intellect she ascended through ranks quickly and gathered something of a reputation of successfully completing operationg with little to no casualties. The Grand Army, however, was a male dominated organization with exceptionally few female commanders. Many have theorized Faith's gender worked against her, keeping her from the positions she deserved. It's also possible her progress was retarded by her pacifist views and unorthodox strategies, that many saw as risky.

She continued service with the GA through the [Great War], and after the war's conclusion focused her efforts in the army campaigning to slow the development of progressively more powerful weapons. During her efforts she discovered a dangerous stealth weapon known only as "The Cylinder" was still under development with one of the Army's more prolific (and arrogant) engineers, Dr. Ray Lenn. Knowing her superiors would never be willing to turn away such a powerful weapon, Faith took it upon herself to befriend Dr. Lenn in the hopes of sabotaguing the project. Unfortunately it was during this time that Faith discovered Ray actually planned to sell the weapon on the black market to a man called Roland Boderick. Faith tried to disrupt an arranged meeting between the two men, but her attempts failed and Dr. Lenn was left for dead while Roland retreated with the weapon data.

Finding herself at odds, Faith eventually decided to destroy the evidence of the Cylinder and leave Ray's body, hoping that the Grand Army could trace down Roland without learning of the Cylinder or of Faith's espionage. Unfortunately the Grand Army traced the murder back to a man who assaulted Dr. Lenn the night before, a pilot by the name of Kix Brooks. After learning that Kix had actually taken a hostage and fled from the Grand Army, Faith pursued the fugitive and his hostage and gave them money and supplies and promising to straighten out the situation while pleading with them to stay out of sight.

Faith spent some time trying to determine how she would make amends and ultimately decided to take a vacation from the Grand Army in the hopes of tracking down Kix to explain the situation and at the same time determine the best course of action. When she did find Kix, he refused to have anything to do with her and fled her attention by joining the security group of the mysterious OmniSent organization, based out of the recently discovered dimension of Aryth.

Faith followed Kix into Aryth where she learned of the civil strife of that dimension. Marien Othlan, the Verund Cenrum of the Glory Tower, and the Queen of Rodan attempted to recruit Faith as the "General" of the members of the Five Great Nations of Aryth still loyal to the Glory Tower. Faith's active role in the struggle was sealed after Roland Boderick launched a coup in the OmniSent and bolstered his own military might by conquering the Glory Tower and enslaving its powerful Tanes as his own weapons.

Faith, now officially AWOL from the Grand Army, was given the task of leading the combined forces of Aryth against the OmniSent. She united the Five Great Nations and made a base of operations in Rein. After two attempts at retaking the Glory Tower Roland finally retreated to his base of Atlantis, where he was defeated by the combined forces of Faith's army and foreign forces.

During the final battle to take the Glory Tower, Kix crashed his ship into the Bloodbane Mountains and was presumed dead. Faith trekked the dangerous mountains and found Kix, still alive. The two had grown romantically attached to each other over the course of the war and they returned to Albrook hoping to continue their lives. However, Faith finally submitted herself to the will of the Grand Army and confessed her sabotague and conspiracy. After being locked away in a Grand Army middlehouse for half a year, she was dishonorably discharged from the army.

She broke off her relationship with Kix shortly after this and spent a few months jumping from job to job. During this time she was contacted again by Rudra Tairen, who appealed for her help dealing with the new threat to the Five Great Nations of Aryth. Changed from her recent experiences, Faith was initially hesitant to go back to Aryth but was eventually persuaded. She took the helm of Lord General of the Five Great Nations.

The new conflict would later be known as the East-West War, and centered around the Five Great Nations being attacked by the DeLaykrinn Empire from across the Bloodbane Mountains. The empire had an entire population of enslaved magic users and managed to conquer the peaceful nations of Aryth in very little time. The invading forces also managed to destroy the Arythian Gate in the process, which was the only way in or out of the dimension of Aryth.

During this time Faith slipped deeper in depression, keeping to herself outside of a new friendship with Celpo Agent and OmniSent member Sliver. She lead the straggling remaining forces of Aryth to a new ad-hoc base in the snowy areas north of Truklan between the River Tyme and Source. She continued to lead even as she personally fell into deeper despair. At one point when things looked their most desperate, Emperor Vonkrick DeLaykrinn invited Faith and Sliver to a negotiation meeting. Negotiations deteriorated when the Emperor made it clear he would accept nothing less than the total subjucation of all magic users in Aryth, as he viewed magic users as a dangerous force that had to be contained.

Following this, Faith planned one last desperate attack against the Empire, which had stationed itself almost entirely in Truklan. During the attack, Faith was mortally wounded by one of the Emperor's cabinet members (who I can't remember the name of) using an enchanted knife. Because of the enchantment no magic could heal Faith's wound, and so a desperate attempt was made to erect a new gate to the rest of the Web and the science that could heal her. Though the attempts were eventually successful, by the time the gate was opened it was too late and Faith passed on.

Reinforcements later arrived through the Arythian Gate, finishing the East-West War and forcing the Emperor to flee. The new Arythian Gate was named Faith's Leap in the fallen general's honor.

Disposition

Faith was capable, strong, and typically cheerful. Her charisma and force of will brought her far in life, further than any woman had ever been in the Grand Army, which earned her some level of celebrity. At the same time, she had fewer and fewer friends as she progressed through life, thanks mostly to her chosen career and the time she put into it. She can be very short tempered.

Faith adopted a much darker attitude following her dismissal from the Grand Army and the seemingly hopeless fight against the DeLaykrinn Empire. In her final days and especially her final moments, however, she seemed to rediscover herself and her former steel.

Her closest friends upon death were probably Sliver and Kix Brooks. She also had a particularly tense renationship with Rudra Tairen, who she viewed as being noble and strong but at the same time hypocritical and extreme.

Other Notes

In the post "A Terrible Life", an alternate reality version of Faith is revealed. This Faith feels trapped in the Great Army and has been completely unsuccessful in her attempts to tame it from the inside. She is a loner for the most part, and in the story she is discovered by Rudra when she is catching a meal in a dive restaurant.
