Battle of Atlantis

The final battle of the OmniSent Conflict, consisting of a large-scale siege of the OmniSent's underwater battlestation, called Atlantis. Several GACA member states contributed manpower and technology to the assault, unlike any battle of its kind to date in Web history.

Precursors

Early in the OmniSent conflict, the Celpo assigned one of its most prized and killtastic agents, Manta, with the task of discovering and scouting out a rumored hidden OmniSent base in the dimension of Aryth. By this time, Roland Boderick and his confederates had siezed control of the Arythian Gate, presumed to be the only way into or out of the dimension.

Praxer Riose knew better, and directed Manta to Norstein Bekkler for a way to get into Aryth. Bekkler specially modified a single space capsule, which allowed Manta to "jump" into Aryth from space. (this capsule would be used a second time to get Manta and Derik into the Gate Dimension during the Cleansing Wars, and following that it would be added onto and modified to construct Manta's personal spacecraft, Slavefish I)

Once inside Aryth, Manta was able to approach Atlantis undetected by shapechanging into a giant fish (naturally!). In the course of scouting out the base, he rendez voused with Sliver, who had infiltrated the OmniSent well before the conflict began. Sliver aided Manta's escape from Atlantis (but refused to sleep with him), and Manta took her intelligence along with the results of his scouting mission back to the Celpo.

Operation: Bully Pulpit

Based on the results of Manta's scouting mission, the nations of the Grand Army Charter planned an all-out assault on the underwater station, as retaliation for the OmniSent attack on Albrook and an ultimate end to the conflict. Esperian Marshal T.O. Halberg took command of the attack, and directed the movement of large numbers of troops, machines and weapons through the Arythian Gate, around which (on the Arythian side) the attack force made its staging area.

Of particular prominence during this battle were modified Guardian JetBikes (used for submarine propulsion) and specially made Esperian underwater battlesuits (especially those modified by the Dwarven Skull Empire). Also contributing significant forces was the Merge League, whose wizards were seen as a countermeasure to the Arythian wizards still leashed and used as living weapons by the OmniSent agents inside Atlantis.

Stage one of the siege was a massive underwater skirmish between battle-suited Alliance forces on JetBikes, and similarly armored-and-mounted OmniSent agents. Also participating in this portion of the battle was, again, Manta, who had neither battlesuit nor JetBike (nor need of either).

While the battle raged in the water outside, Halberg and several contingents aboard submarine transport units used the cover of the fighting to move into position, sieze control of Atlantis' docking airlocks and board the station. Their goal was the release of leashed Arythian wizards and, if possible, the apprehension of Roland Boderick. (It's possible I'm forgetting another important reason why they boarded Atlantis?...)

Battle's End

Ultimately, the battle resulted in Atlantis' destruction. Roland Boderick was not captured, but several of the OmniSent's leashed wizards were rescued and released as a result of the operation.

The destruction of Atlantis and the OmniSent opened Aryth to the rest of the Web of Worlds, though access to the Arythian Gate was still controlled by the Grand Army for years afterward.

King Derik of Guardia took personal command of a Guardian contingent during the battle, and turned up missing by the time the battle ended. Most assumed he had been killed in the chaotic undersea skirmish, when in fact he turned up later as the amnesiac Alex Crant'za.

Other stuff probably happened after the battle ended, but I can't remember it all, and I probably got some of the stuff above a little bit off as well.
