History

The Communist Protectorate was formed in 31 WR with three original signatories: the Scandian League, Ticondera, and Hyliagrad for mutual defense and the promotion of Web communsim. As communism spread, other nations were added, including the Merge League, Tycoon, and Damcyan. After the departure of Dain Kordridge the Protectorate became increasingly dominated by Travinist Scande. The Leviathan War devastated the Protectorate; it had six members at the time, three of which collapsed and one of which existed only in exile, and most of the late thirties the communists spent in relative isolation. In the early forties, however, a powerful Merge League and a resurgent Scande lead the Protectorate to a sort of rebirth. Alkar expanded his power in the Merge dimension and launched the Seeder program; Scande, not to be outdone, showed its willingness to provide aid and assistance to out-of-the way, ignored, and neglected populations like the moogles of Kuvalla or even the orks of Terra Nostra. This new power has alarmed nations traditionally more ambivalent towards communism, such as Guardia and Eblan; however, there are still proponents of engagement and detente with the Protectorate, notably Medina and Tasnica. Further, the Protectorate is very spread out; although it has large capabilities, it is also engaged on multiple fronts.
