History

The son of a family that ran a funeral parlor, Jon Jenks grew up learning how to build caskets and coffins, digging the graves in the cemetery. Being a rather sullen and brooding youth, he developed anti-Mystic and other racially-insensitive behaviors, eventually joining the Xenos. At some point while with them, Jenks studied the tomes of knowledge in Tibbius Shadow's library, learning of old, corrupt forms of magic, in particular the Horcrux. Keenly interested in avoiding death, Jenks made use of the horcrux to give himself the means to escape death, fracturing his soul into at least two pieces, so he could learn Defiling Magic from Rajaat.

During the Cleansing Wars, Jenks used a form of earth-based magic to cause the ground to swallow up his enemies, and this, coupled with his former occupation, earned him the moniker "The Gravedigger." His fearlessness in battle (mostly due to his confidence that the horcrux would keep him from staying dead permanently) earned him a great deal of respect among his peers. Like many of his fellows, Jenks was captured after the Defilers' last stand in Sedin, and incarcerated at Valleyville. While there, Jenks maintained a semi-tolerance for his colleague Malismo, which eventually lead to his agreeing to help Malismo and Brer Rabbey escape Valleyville. Of course, unknown to Jenks and the other Defilers who agreed to help, it was a set-up to use their power to fuel the Shadow-Walk spell, and to use their souls to bribe the Shadow-Beasts.

Jenks' soul was spared this due to the horcrux, and actually died due to a heart attack when confronted by a Shadow-Beast. His body was shipped back to Chorras for burial, where it was substituted for a simulacrum while an associate of Jenks' revived him. As far as the Guardian government is concerned, Jon Jenks is dead, but it remains to be seen whether he'll prove that belief wrong.
