John Dario first gained notereity in the Gate Dimension as a quarterback for his college team, the SCTI Ghost Knights. Under Dario's lead, the Ghost Knights were the first Gatian college team to play schools in the Esper and Mana conferences. Rather than pursue a professional career in the Web Football League, Dario joined the GDF after graduation, and requested to be part of the detachment being sent to the Esper Dimension to fight the Communist Protectorate's advance alongside the REF.
Returning home from Esper, Dario was selected for officer's training, but quickly became delusioned by the entrenched Guardian military aristocracy represented by the knighthood. He dropped out of officer's training and left the GDF, returning home to his native Chorras and opting to go into law enforcement as an officer in CLEA. Even working directly to protect and serve his countrymen, he couldn't shake the sense of delusion he'd gained at Fort Arris. The tendrils of Guardian bureaucracy (in the form of the Justice Ministry's control over CLEA) were all over him and his agency; the Kingdom had his homeland in a choke hold.
It was around this time that Dario first encountered Eli Cromlich. Though at first Dario was committed to bringing the smuggler and criminal to justice, he was eventually drawn into a trap set by Cromlich, and on meeting the doppleganger decided to join his cause. Now, Dario and Eli are sworn compatriots in the struggle for Chorran independence. Through Eli, Dario joined forces with Dregoth, and though he finds the Governor and ex-Defiler to be more than a little bit creepy, he has no compunctions about serving him if the result is a liberated Chorran republic.
