Eli Cromlich

Eli is the head of the Doomguard, a merry band of happy go-lucky arms smugglers with an oddly grim name. For years Eli has helped supply arms to the Crime Syndicates that call Chorras their home turf, but now he is putting his efforts behind Dregoth's separatist movement.

History

Eli Cromlich has been a name spoken of in whispers in the Chorran underground for a very long time, suggesting that members of Eli's race are much longer lived than humans. During the Syndicate era, he ran guns to the Chorran resistance to fight the Trann Syndicate occupation forces. After Arris allied with Chorras, the Doomguard traded weapons, munitions and supplies to help Doan win the war in Guardia Proper. And then after Doan ascended to the Guardian Throne, he supplied weapons to the criminal outfits that sprang up in Chorras.

His operations have always been limited to the Gate Dimension, though after Gate entered the Web of Worlds he was able to link up with suppliers outside in the Core Worlds.

Recently, Eli Cromlich came to the attention of John Dario, who was at the time an officer in CLEA (Chorran Law Enforcement Agency). It might be better said that Dario came to Eli's attention, for Eli eventually allowed himself to be caught by Dario and the two became friends. Eli convinced Dario to join his organization, and Dario (who was disillusioned by his experiences as a young Chorran in the Guardian military) found little reason to maintain the pretenses of loyalty to the Crown. Together with Dario, Eli went to see Governor Dregoth of Chorras, and the three agreed to work toward a mutual goal of liberating Chorras from Guardian rule.
