Emily Gavalian
Emily Gavalian, current wife of Kuat Consortium CEO Damien Gavalian, was a relation of Georgethor Cartier V, last king of Tasnica. Well aware of anti-monarchical trends in the Republic, she went by the name of Emily Sindrel during her time of being a hard-partying socialite in Centwerp. Slim, beautiful, and manipulative, she attracted wealthy and powerful men.
This didn't work out so well when Georgethor died, and she had no way to press her claim to the throne, and Rhodes Palmerston dismantled the Tasnican Crown with full Senate support. This coincided with her sleeping with the wrong people in Centwerp, so she fled to Tasnica's space colonies, eventually landing herself on a Quiet Mining Colony in the Mana Dimension's asteroid belt.
This put her in a position to eventually meet Damien Gavalian, who instantly recognized a like-minded ruthless soul. She ditched the middle-manager she was screwing at the time, and married the Kuat CEO in a huge ceremony outside of the High Church of Rainere, in Tasnicaport. Her marriage to such a high-profile figure allowed her to make a noise about resurrecting the Tasnican throne; the Tasnican government essentially paid her off to never bring it up, ever, again. She promptly invested her money into Kuat stock; besides Damien himself, she is the second-largest shareholder.
Emily made quite a splash as a fashion plate; for a while, she her glamorous, sexy, yet no-nonsense look was splayed all over magazine covers. (And not just in the various media owned by Kuat, either!)
In 38 WR, Damien and Leisha decided that their long-range financial planning required an heir. Good-old fashioned biology left too much to chance, and they opted to have their daughter, Leisha Gavalian, genetically enhanced. For a time, the Gavalians were the icon of the 'perfect Tasnican family'.
However, this would not last. Damien actually has genuine affection for Leisha; Emily would prefer to outsource it all to her nannies and tutors. She also decided she was bored with always being number two, and decided to seek Lofwyr's help to engineer her ascension to the top post of the Kuat Consortium.
