Fabul is a nation in the Crystal Dimension. Originally part of the heartland of the Xsian Empire, modern Fabulians are genetically as near to the ancient Hai-Xsian ethnicity as can be found in modern times. Fabulians are a people proud of their traditions, history and culture. This very naturally lends itself to a powerful nationalist streak, which allowed for the rise of Tzu Mao's fascist party (officially: Renewal Movement Party) takeover, and the nation's resultant admission into the Fascist Pact.
Fabul today remains a Pact member, and is in fact a strong ally of the Porcine Republic -- Snoutwit's breakaway Silveran state -- and peripherally also an ally of Eblan in its struggle against socialist Mysidia. Many in the dimension hope that the Fabulian-Porcine alliance is not a prelude to the spread of communist-fascist aggression into Northern Crystal.
Fabul's criminal underworld is dominated by Fabulian Triads.
Fabul occupied a good chunk of Damcyan during the Leviathan War, and has not left since. This has led to degrees of protest from other countries. Damcyan was not dealt with in the Pauper's Peace signed by the Esper Union and Scandian League at the end of the Leviathan War, so Fabul claims its occupation is a perfectly legal measure to protect themselves from "the red menace."
Fabul has a large military, among the largest in the Crystal Dimension. Military service is compulsory for all young men, and the government spends a lot on equipment. The military's priorities are to engage in suppression of various Damcyanese groups and protect the country against any potential Communist Protectorate aggression. The Fabul Army is mostly equipped with Esperian and Tasnican weapons. The Fabul Navy is modest-sized, several smaller craft for coastal defense and a few larger missile cruisers built by Saeder-Krupp.
Fabulian Cities
- Yangjing, "Yang's Capital," built by the King Yang after the Clash of Crystals. Capital city, and home to many karate schools.
- Meihuzhou, "Beautiful Lake City," a city in Western Fabul built around a famous lake. The city has a history of being beautiful, though nowadays its basically a crappy copy of Eblanese and Tasnican cities.
- Tongshan, "copper mountain", a northern mining city that has fallen on hard times
- Guifei, a southern city known for its "Three Hots": hot foot, hot weather, and hot women. According to legend, the was a resort/finishing school for the concubines of the Emperor of Xsia, which is why the women from here are famous for being the most beautiful in the country.
- Tripport, though a Damcyanese city, has been occupied by Fabul since the Leviathan War (the Fabulese name for the city is Shamokouan.)
Notable Fabulians
- Tzu Mao, Chairman of the Renewal Movement Party and leader of the country
- Han Phi, a major military leader in charge of the Yellow Banner Army
- Ming Tsang, major leader of the Fabulian Triads, in charge of the Shining Heaven Society
- Zhao the Venerable, another Triad leader, in charge of the Golden Axe Triad
- Jin Gangdao, a "Red Pole" (enforcer) of the Golden Axe triad and former monk of the Leiden Monastery
