Sirens

In Taznikanze mythology, Sirens are the daughters of Heldrasil, Goddess of Love and the Earth, in her various dalliances with mortal men. Like her mother, they are tricksters, and generally seen as duplicitous schemers. They were ravishingly beautiful, and had incredible control over their voice; the classic Siren story is about the singing of the Sirens luring sailors to their doom on the rocks. They could also use their voice to shatter armor and weapons (which is why they are sometimes called Banshees in some traditions). Unlike their rivals, the Valkyries, Sirens were very fertile; they could bear a child in a week (although they had control over their own conception). Many were practicioners of Runecasting or other magic; fitting, since a Siren supposedly discovered that tradition. Sirens can easily seduce any mortal; they also play a sort of cupid role, making mortals fall in love with each other. The Taznikanze regarded this as particularly insidious, as love was the antithesis of martial virtue.

With the exception of Frilya (who had a checkered past), most Sirens played the role of villains in the heroic sagas. At a minimum, they were not to be trusted.
