Heldrasil

In Taznikanze mythology, Heldrasil is the Goddess of Earth and Love. She is the mate of Zahd, and one of the only people in the epics who can actually calm the rage-prone war-god. She is a trickster, not to be trusted, and will often go to elaborate lengths and enact detailed schemes to humiliate anyone who has wronged her.

Like Zahd, she slept around a lot; her daughters with mortal are the Sirens, and they are cunning and manipulative. While Zahd's daughters, the Valkyries, are physically powerful, Heldrasil's daughters are mystically powerful. Heldrasil herself learned the secret of Runecasting after hanging from the Mana Tree; one of her daughters, Frilya, taught the runes to mortalkind.

Her priestesses, the Hexen, often served as local wise-women and had training in the healing arts. Most were also prostitutes. They were, perhaps not coincidentally, the most knowledgeable about birth control techniques in the ancient world.

Heldrasil is always described as superlatively attractive in every guise, and some have claimed she represents man's primal sexual nature just as Zahd represents his primal violent nature. As the Taznikanze skald Gvar once wrote, "What good is all of the violence in the world, unless it is tempered with limitless sex?"

Her symbol is a stone woman figurine, and is often held as a good luck charm for those hoping to get lucky in love.
