Keaton Error was raised on the Council Wyrm of the Triangle, though he was born in Ironesse. As a small child he and his sister Devon Fait became lost in the depths of Dantic, and Keaton was found by the Trianglers, while Devon worked her way to the surface of Crystal. For many years Keaton didn't remember either his birthplace or his sister.
As a supposed orphan, and one not of the Triangle to begin with, Keaton was quite lucky to have a place within the Council Wyrm. There he became friends with the future Prophetess Maerius Chikara, and Artic Kohl whose mother was on the council.
Keaton's greatest wish in life was to be an artist, and to contribute something to the culture of the people who had so generously taken him in. The ascetic life of an artist suited him well, but from the time they were children Maerius had different ideas. Keaton was just the last one to find out about them.
After Maerius ordered the surfacing of the Zone Eaters and the reestablishment of a nation on Triangle Island for the first time since the War of the Magi, Keaton set up a small studio in the outskirts of Nadir and began working on his art.
Maerius, pressed into action by the machinations of the Council to marry her off to the Piety, instead declared Keaton as the Attendant to the Light of the Zone, making him her betrothed and the future Consort General, with the council unable to do anything about it.
Keaton had no say in the matter, which he found infuriating. He had feelings for Maerius, but didn't want their futures to be sealed by forces beyond either of them.
He went along with it though, and was soon shipped off with one hundred other young Trianglers to bolster TO's REF. As a Captain in the REF Keaton served well, though he grew to hate himself more and more, the more life he was forced to take. Eventually, at Second Hosluftgrad, he was struck in the back by Scandian needlerounds and told he would never walk again. Only quick action by Artic Kohl prevented his outright death.
Back on Triangle Island, he was fitted with a magitek brace which allowed him to walk, if only for short, pain-filled moments, and was sent away again on a "web-wide tour" as a pretense to get him out of the way.
The tour was cut short in Aryth, when a brief encounter with the River Tyme nearly resulted in his death, and his Zone Eater carried him instinctively to Dantic where he was healed by agents of his mother and then sent away again without ever getting to talk to her.
Back on Triangle Island again, he narrowly managed to foil a plot by the Authorians to sieze military power on the island. Though he was too late to stop the Anox Vi from being summoned as part of a different Authorian plot.
He narrowly managed to get Maerius off of the island, before he could be Bound to her has Consort General, and left Artic Kohl to lead a resistance in his stead.
In Maranda he and Maerius set up a government-in-exile in Alice Halberg's dorm, and Keaton enrolled in the university, while trying to rally support to retake Triangle.
He and Maerius were married, under Esper Union law, soon after.
