Zone Eater

Zone Eaters are enormous, miles-long creatures which burrow deep beneath the surface of worlds. They have been called worms, since their long, slender appearance is similar. However, their hard, scaly hides and other parts of their physiology places them close to the dragons. They are native to the world of Dantic though a large population also inhabits Esper III. Historically they were used as mounts and weapons of war by the Dantrath Anemos Knights, and the Triangle splinter-sect took a number of the beasts with them to Esper for that purpose.

After the War of the Magi, the Trianglers fled deep underground, inhabiting the bellies of their Zone Eaters as well as both natural and unnatural caverns. To this end the Zone Eaters have a number of stomach cavities, some devoted to digestion while others appear to aid in the process of devouring and expelling solid rock, while others might have been intended for food storage. These are the only places within the Zone Eater safe for human habitation.

The Zone Eater possess a rudimentary intelligence, and when bonded with an Anemos or Zone Knight the knight in question must remain constantly vigilant so as not to have his own will crushed by that of the beast. When properly subdued, the beast provides an immense font of control and fortitude, as well as access to certain Deep Magics.
