Aurora Garamonde was the last mortal incarnation of the Goddess Chrystalis. She was born in the Purelands to a pair of eccentric Elementalist mages devoted to Lumina, Sylphid, and Dryad who lived as hermits there. Due to some heavy tampering by Thanatos, Aurora was born without knowledge of her divine nature, knowing only that she was a Sorceress capable of terrifying feats of magic from a young age.

Little is known about her early life in the Purelands, save that it was an idyllic childhood spent in close communion with nature and the mana spirits. In many respects, Aurora was just as eccentric as her parents; legend has it that she spent most of her childhood barefoot and sitting in the Mana Tree (even when she was older, she displayed a great disdain for wearing shoes).

Aurora's parents died protecting the Mana Tree from Thanatos' forces; they combined their powers to manifest three spirits of Lumina, destroying his monsters but giving their lives in the process. The orphaned, pre-adolescent Sorceress then somehow managed to travel to the heretofore unknown-to-Mana Esper Dimension; it's theorized among Lightwalkers and Chrystalan priests that she gained knowledge of the Corridors and found Esper that way. Regardless of how she managed to get there, Aurora ended up in the countryside of Doma, where she was found by the legendary knight Cyan Garamonde while he led a training exercise. The chivalrous knight couldn't leave the beautiful young woman to her own devices, and took her home, fostering her as his own daughter. Cyan adored her, and the two became very close.

It was during an extended diplomatic visit to Baron in the Crystal Dimension that Aurora's life would be turned upside down yet again. She became fascinated with dragoons and trained as one (much to her father's initial chagrin). During this period, she also met a young Tahranist paladin by the name of Sir Joneleth, a restless, wandering do-gooder of the sort that was common in those days. He was very much a Knight in search of his Sorceress, though he didn't have the vocabulary to understand it at the time.

Jon and Aurora quite literally fell in love at first sight; it was clear from the very moment they met that each was the one the other had always been looking for, without even realizing it. The couple married with Cyan's blessing shortly before the start of the Great War. Not long after, Jon--a solitary practitioner of the Shining Path--somewhat ironically initiated Aurora in the mysteries, and it was during this initiation rite that Aurora's divine memories began flooding back. The young couple came to realize that she was in truth a mortal avatar of the Goddess Chrystalis, and Jon was a mortal avatar of the God Tahran, separated from her by Thanatos' machinations. They ascended in a mysterious ritual not long after that, and assumed their rightful place in the Web Pantheon as leaders of the Light Gods.

Being the last avatar of Chrystalis, Aurora is the most well-known of them all, and spent the longest period of time as a mortal. It could be said that she was mortal for so long, and spent so much time amnesiac about her true nature, that it's hard for her to think of herself as a Goddess. Some of the more eccentric Chrystalan philosophers often debate whether Aurora is simply a face of Chrystalis, or the Goddess' true form of being.
