Sorceress Knight

The spirtually bonded soulmate of a Sorceress, who acts as her guardian and protector. Sorceress' Knights, like the Sorceresses they devote themselves to, can be any gender, and they can also be any sort of profession (though most tend to be literal knights for practical reasons). The paramount duty of a Knight is to protect his Sorceress against physical, emotional, and spiritual harm, giving up his own life if need be. It is a path of unspeakable hardship and self-sacrifice, but one those called to it cannot turn aside. The bond a Knight feels with his Sorceress is among the most powerful forces in the universe, and when it is compromised, it very often leads to great tragedy. Probably the worst example of this was Empress Salynae XXIII, who went mad and disavowed her Knight, Valsu Saizer. It could be said that his founding of the TFF was his way of continuing to serve her nonetheless, taking her down in order to save her from herself.

Knights can re-bond themselves with other Sorceresses besides their "own", and can also step in and temporarily serve a Sorceress in need who may not be their own (Cyan Garamonde acted as Knight to his foster daughter Aurora, until she met her Knight, Joneleth). They are notoriously jealous, however, and quite territorial of "their" Sorceresses. Tahran's undying hatred for Thanatos may well at the root be an expression of this aspect of Sorceress Knighthood.

Knights are magical in their own right, and even if they aren't magic users themselves (most are), almost always have abilties such as extraordinary strength and speed, powers of clairvoyance, etc.--anything that would help them better carry out their calling. They tend to excel in protection magics, also.

Tahran was the first Knight, with Chrystalis as his Sorceress.
