TFF
The Ticonderan Freedom Fighters were an infamous band of rebels founded by Valsu Saizer in the wake of Esuna Busy's successful coup and ascension to the Ticonderan imperial throne as Empress Salynae XXIII. Valsu, a Marak mage-knight and the only one of the assassinated Lemele I's apprentices to survive Esuna's bloodbath, founded the TFF in an effort to stop his former lover from wrecking havoc on the world with the Runes she'd gathered. He was joined by several officers of the Ticonderan Imperial Army who'd remained loyal to the old regime, and a ragtag group of nobles and Marak mercenaries.
Valsu's original lieutenants were Morrigan Pherik, a Marak martial artist; and Savar Quirino, a wandering mercenary. Together, they led a surprisingly successful guerilla campaign against the Imperial army, and their numbers grew exponentially. It was the recruitment of one young Delvian count, however, that would seal Valsu's fate. Victor Melanion, Count of Tariff, was in fact a double agent sent by Ticonderan intelligence to infiltrate the group, though none would discover his treachery until it was too late. He seduced Morrigan away from Valsu, and betrayed the rebels at the bloody Battle of North Viper. Unfortunately for Victor, he genuinely came to care for Morrigan, but she was sentenced to death by crucifixion along with Valsu and Savar. The three were executed just after dusk, though Morrigan's body strangely vanished and was never found; Victor himself disappeared, presumed dead.
The deaths of their beloved leader and his lieutenants had the effect on morale that Salynae intended; the TFF was devastated, and a bitter fight for control of the group ensued. To everyone's surprise, however, it was Valsu's nine-year-old daughter Kylenne that emerged victorious (with the help of her mother, Jennifer, and the support of her faction of rebels). She quite literally took up her father's sword and led TFF fighters in an assault on an imperial base in rural Pell, destroying an entire Magitek factory. This surprising victory inspired the rebels, and they rallied around the precocious girl.
The following years saw many ups and downs for the TFF, with as many setbacks as gains. Kylenne grew into a superb warrior, every bit as skilled as her father, and her people were as fiercely loyal to her as they were to him. When Kylenne was captured after one particularly disastrous battle, she escaped her father's fate with the help of a young imperial legionnaire by the name of Dion Melanion, son of Victor and Morrigan. He went AWOL, helping her escape the dungeons beneath the Imperial Citadel as "price" for her purchase in the old Marak manner. For Kylenne's part, she was extremely impressed with his battle prowess, which led to the highly unusual circumstance of her "owner" becoming her Lieutenant General. While Dion was greeted by the TFF with some measure of distrust, in time he proved both his worth and his loyalty, and became a highly valued asset to the group.
It was a matter of months later when, one fateful rainy day, Kylenne found a pretty young girl named Camilison Langren quite literally on the TFF's doorstep. The young woman suffered from amnesia, with absolutely no memory of her past save her name. Kylenne took her in, with some hesitation, but quickly came to relish the decision. Cam, as she came to be known, was a fierce martial artist who'd developed quite a reputation on the Yar Marak underground fighting circuit. Not only did she become Kylenne's second Lieutenant General, but also became her dearest friend.
The TFF's guerilla campaign continued for two more years, bolstered by the powerful triumverate that led them. By now, the Great War was raging in earnest across the Web, and Kylenne's forces allied themselves with the fledgling Grand Army, joining the fight against the Dark Wrath which Salynae aligned herself with. During the course of the war, Cam was discovered to be the last living blood relative of the assassinated Emperor Lemele, making her rightful heir to the imperial throne. During a battle that would quickly pass into legend, Salynae was defeated, and the TFF finally freed Ticondera from her tyranny.
Their goals ostensibly achieved, the TFF disbanded when Camilison wed Sabin Figaro and assumed her rightful place as Empress of Boundless Ticondera. Kylenne became Over-General of the Imperial Army, a move which infuriated a small faction of the general staff which remained loyal to the old regime. However, for the most part, the revolutionaries got along surprisingly well with their former enemies (most of whom were at the very least sympathetic to their goals).
