Baron

The Kingdom of Baron is a nation in the Crystal Dimension, often described as the "first among equals" out of the collective of Crystalese states. In part due to its unspoken hegemonic control over the other Crystal nations, Baron was regarded (along with Tasnica and Ticondera) as one of the three great powers of the pre-Great War era. Among other things, Baron is renowned for its fleet of airships (the Red Wings), its Paladins, and its elite Dragoon soldiers. Baron saw rapid decline as the hostilities of the Great War began to flare up and consume the Crystal Dimension. Baron held out admirably until after the Battle of North Viper, which saw the Kingdom finally fall and suffer occupation by the followers of the Dark Gods. The forces of good were eventually able to liberate Baron; however, on the eve of this great triumph, Baron was betrayed by one of her own paladins, Dorian Menhir, who had pledged himself to Thanatos for the promise of becoming a Dark God himself. For the remainder of the war, Baron was the main stronghold of the Dark Wrath. Today, Baron is a nation just below mid-tier status, its former glory never quite able to recover from the blow dealt to it during the war. It is host now to the exiled kings Edgar Figaro and Cyan Garamonde.
