Winona is the eldest daughter of Forthena's late King Richard. By Forthenan law, the Crown must pass from the King to a male heir, and Richard had five daughters and no sons. When Richard died he made Duran Ferrant, the Mana Knight of Alter, his heir and the next King, in part because he didn't trust any of his sons-in-law with the Kingdom.
Both Winona and her husband Oderic survived the intrigue surrounding the betrayal of Carno Terithran, Phaethon Wingflash and Winona's sister Val, though Oderic has shot and wounded by the conspirators. After the conspiracy was uncovered and Duran lay dead, Irzoile Ricrot assumed the throne and retained the surviving members of the court as his own. He honored Oderic by retaining him in his post as Knight Commodore of the Forthenan Grand Fleet, and elevated Winona to the post of Forthena's Chief Member Alliance Congress.
As close allies, Forthena and Bestia's MAC delegations have formed a bloc that often votes together. As such Winona has formed a close working relationship with the Beast Kingdom's lead MAC, Reika Mareshi. Despite their very obvious differences in temperament, Winona and Reika have become fast friends in their time in the Alliance Congress.
