Tyurin Cage was the second Prime Minister of the Republic of Medina and the father of Janus Cage.

Personal

Tyurin Cage is two inches shy of six feet tall and weighs roughly two hundred pounds. He is known to wear a beard, and has ragged brown hair streaked with gray. He was born in 2281 (2 WB) in the city of Heckran in Medina.

Early Life

Little is known about Tyurin Cage's early life. There are no records of who his parents were. Certain reports maintain he served as a technician in one of Ozzie's labs in pre-Republic Medina. As a young man he either worked for or had significant ties with the Atreus. Three of four years before he would run for Prime Minister of the Republic of Medina, he married Laitha Cage.

Public Emergence

Tyurin Cage became the second Prime Minister of Medina at the close of the elections of 2313 (30 WR). His campaign was supported almost entirely by Eusic Mori with Areus resources. He narrowly defeated the former Prime Minister Skull's old confidant Cronus-Delta and local businessman Gorgon Wells. Shortly after becoming Prime Minister Cage's wife Laitha gave birth to a son, which Tyurin named ‘Janus’ in honor of Medinan history and legend.

Prime Minister

As Prime Minister, Cage is credited with creating close ties with many of the city-states in the Alter Dimension. He dissolved and consolidated large portions of Medinan beauracray, replacing almost all of Skull's old administration with his own people. In a controversial move, he removed Medina from the Grand Army Charter Alliance and initiated a years-long military build-up (known as the Fortess Medina Policy), which included both land-based armaments and a space fleet. Later, he spear-headed the movement, along with Eusic Mori, to form the Confederation.

Tyurin Cage's term as Prime Minister was cut short. While Cage was away from Medina, Skull led a rebellion to overthrow him and restore the republic (also known as the Second Medinan Civil War). Tyurin Cage attempted many times to re-enter Medina, but was thwarted by Guardian planetary defenses, acting under the orders of Malvo Thames.

Legacy as Prime Minister

Tyurin Cage is almost universally remembered as a destructive, tempermental, and paranoid leader. While he did usher Medina into a larger Web-wide prominence, his militaristic emphasis alienated many of Medina's long-time allies. His own distrust and hatred of the Grand Army, for example, undid years of Medinan diplomacy. In addition to this, he is credited for sowing the seeds of racial strife between humans and Mystics that continues to plague Medina to this day. There are also rumors of a series of secret projects he initiated, experimenting with rapid growth, memory, and magical ability in sentient beings.

Years in Exile and New Identity

Following the events of the Second Medinan Civil War, Tyurin Cage spent many years wandering in exile. It is known that he spent time in Jidoor, and that he later did manage to return to Medina during the time of the Shadow Barons, in order to see his son Janus Cage. At some point, Cage adopted a disguise and the persona of Shale Markeis, a shifty and unscrupulous Priman merchant. As Markeis, Cage rose to prominence within the Priman Merchant's Guild, and now is a member of the Executive Council of the Alter-Dragonian Combine. It is unknown if any of the Primans he now associates with know his true identity.
