The current Prime Minister of the Republic of Medina, and the former CEO of the Medinan corporations JetCo and OmegaTech.

Personal

Gorgon Wells stands at five and a half feet tall, has dark, coal-colored skin, and is rapidly balding from the front and the back. He has, for most of the his life, been extremely fat. In the past few years health concerns have forced him to curb his prodigious eating habits, and, while still quite large, Wells is not quite as fat as he used to be.

Early Life

By Medinan standards, Wells was born into a fairly wealthy family. His father founded JetCo, one of the first truly Medinan corporations. JetCo did little real research and development, instead making cheap (and often inferior) copies of JetBikes and other predominantly Guardian technologies for use by the dictator Ozzie. Wells developed his business sense and acumen from his father's dealings, and at the tender age of twenty-two took over for his father, who was in poor health. He become CEO a few years later, upon his father's death.

From a young age Wells was known to live a racous and indulgent lifestyle. He was a frequent presence at the casinos, gentleman's clubs, and bars in Coast Town, and he developed a reputation for being a free-wheeling playboy.

CEO

Wells revolutioned Medinan corporations, using the profits from JetCo to found OmegaTech, which was much more research and design based. With Wells as CEO, OmegaTech developed a new model of JetBike, the BattleBike, adopting the machinery for modern warfare. These became a staple of the Medinan Republican Army. Wells succeeded in keeping his corporations fairly insulated and protected from aggresive Tasnican competition. Over time, however, increased pressure from Atreus, the Tasnican corporations, and MerthCorp (Wells has an intense rivalry with Mace Merthor) lessened his impact and that of his corporations.

First Run at Prime Minister

When Skull inexplicably fell ill and died, Gorgon Wells resigned his positions in both of his corporations and poured all of his fortunes into running for Prime Minister. In the three way election, Wells came in last after Tyurin Cage and Cronus-Delta. Furious and broken, Wells worked at rebuilding his fortune.

Tumultuous Love Life

After his defeat in the election, Wells, while not as CEO, took a much more active role in both JetCo and OmegaTech, keeping them afloat and active during the rule of Janus Cage. This also led to a string of relationships. Shortly after his defeat Wells married his JetCo secretary Joy. Later, they divorced over her infidelty and she married Tasnican businessman Evan Whittaker. Shortly after that, Wells married a Coast Town stripper named "Serenity." They stayed together in relative happiness for three years. When Wells' health began to decline, she left him, and they were divorced six months later. Finally, Wells fell in love with an OmegaTech technician named Constance. While planning to woo her he discovered she had been selling trade secrets to the Scandian League. He took pity on her and they lived together for more than a year. Wells planned to marry her all along and forgive her past transgressions, but before he could she mysteriously vanished.

Deposing Cage & Second Run at Prime Minister

Gorgon Wells took an active role in liberating Medina from Janus Cage. He personally sought out and enlisted D'troth Alazhar, a Medinan diablo who was training to become a Guardian knight, to lead a military offensive. Wells also oversaw the acquisition of old and refurbished military hardware, which he stored at the Markeis Loop. Along with D'troth, he formed an army of old soliders and Loop mercenaries, the sole purpose of which was to remove Janus Cage from power. He coordinated this effort with Mako, who was also enacting a plan to depose Cage.

When Janus Cage's forces were defeated and the dictator fled the continent, Wells took a primary role in the rebuilding that followed. He negotiated a truce with Margaruitte Aringail, and solicited Guardian aid for rebuilding Medina City. Along with D'troth and Rhodes Palmerston, Wells was one of the principal minds behind the constitution that would form the Second Medinan Republic.

When the constitution was ratified, Wells bent all his fortune and influence towards running for the coveted seat of Prime Minister. He was victorious, running as a Republican and defeating the Progressive Silas Jaggwing and a few other lesser known candidates in the elections of 42 WR. While losing the mainland vote by a small margin, Wells overwhelmingly carried the colonial vote, which brought him to victory.

Prime Minister

Finally possessing what he had long desired, Gorgon Wells was quickly frustrated by the serious checks placed on his office by the Senate and the constitution. Seeking to differentiate himself from past administrations and move Medina in a new direction, he did not hire Mako to direct a new intelligence agency, and he staunchy opposed and squashed all efforts and talk about a Medinan space fleet. In order to rebuild Medina to its past glory, he borrowed from large nations such as Tasnica and Guardia, incurring a massive debt that would come to be his legacy.

Seeing the true power of the Prime Minister as lying in the realm of foreign policy, Wells embarked on a number of official visits, meeting with Khalid Morris, Travin Rumanski, and Kenny Brackhaven, among others. Much to the dismay of Guardia, Wells entered into a pact with Scande that put Protectorate warboats in Guardian waters. While this move earned Wells considerable clout abroad (especially in Tasnica), he spent much of that political capital by refusing to negotiate with the Medinan portion of the colony Sanctuary (called Heinlein), which the Tasnicans had long coveted.

In 43 WR Wells appointed Gage Rizett High Commander of the Medinan Armed Forces.

Gorgon Wells sees himself as a major player among the powers of the Web, and has made it his highest priority to keep Medina neutral in any future conflicts. To this end, he barters deals and pushes legislation that his party often disapproves, and he has often been called a traitor to his political principles.

Elections of 45

Medinan Prime Ministers serve three year terms. In 45 WR, Wells faced a significant challenge from within his own party from Dillie Bee. Wells barely won, bitterly dividing his own party. He then took credit for the capture of Janus Cage, claiming this as a fulfillment of a campaign promise he made when he first ran. Wells went on to crush the nominal Progressive party candidate, once again enjoying widespread support among the citizens of the Medinan colonies.
