Steel Lynx I

The Steel Lynx I was a well-rounded tank produced by the Kuat Consortium. Recently upgunned with the 80 mm Flare cannon with the same decent speed and protection. Twin machine-guns provide anti-infantry firepower. Advertised as, for people who want the firepower and mobility of a mecha without the expense.

Steel Lynx II ("Stahluchs")

One fine weapons-selling season, there was a new fashion: the light, "cavalry" style tanks such as the Scandian Platinum (see: Scandian Tanks.) People were enamored of these tanks high speed and ability to make lightning strikes, the slower Leo tanks being judged as "so 20s.". Never one to miss out on a good opportunity, Kuat retooled the Steel Lynx into more of a light tank role, reducing some of the armor and retooling the armament. Instead of a capable-but-unremarkable flare gun, Kuat installed their new "Leopard" 40 mm rotary auto cannon. The triple barrels, inspired by the Scandian Demolisher, allow this autocannon to achieve an impressive rate of fire, making the weapon ideal for tearing battlesuited infantry to shreds. Because the new weapon lacked anti-armor capacity, Kuat added a foldout anti-armor missile launcher; of course, the tank retains its dual machine guns. The new tank also lost some armor protection but gained greatly improved speed and limited amphibious capability.

Kuat also rebranded the tank with a Taznikanze name, because it sounded cool.

Perhaps the fact that the Steel Lynx became more popular as a light tank is emblematic of a web-wide trend towards using mecha as heavy units, and relegating vehicles to a supporting role. But, just to be safe, Kuat still launched the Kodiak Heavy Tank.
