Sandra Himmelsten’s father was a senior Tasnican diplomat, and Sandra grew up traveling around the Web, seeing all kinds of exotic people and places. When she grew up and went to college she majored in International Relations, and then entered the diplomatic corps. She worked her way up the rungs until she became Ambassador to Guardia. After the Leviathan War when Tasnica normalized relations with Scande she became Ambassador to the Scandian League, narrowly getting out of Guardia before the Cleansing Wars. She is also a fellow at the Oberlin Institute, a Populist foreign policy think tank. Kenny Brackhaven’s campaign upon discovering her was something along the lines of, “Thank goodness, some foreign policy expertise!” Himmelsten is an aging woman who was once beautiful, and now perhaps clings too tightly to her faded beauty with too much makeup. She prides herself on her knowledge of diplomatic protocols and pragmatism. Kenneth Brackhaven himself is no foreign policy head, so she is likely to emerge as one of the most influential figures of Tasnican foreign policy. Sandra is a member of the more dovish faction in Kenny’s Ministry, counseling an end to the imperialist ways of the past and a rapprochement with the Scandian League and the Communists. To this end she often butts heads with the most hawkish member of the Ministry, Admiral Supreme Rycar Mountbatten.
