The last surviving descendent of Seamus Quistgaard, Ryn was a highschool student when The Triad invaded the Republic of Man. Her father was killed in defense of the city of Tasset while she survived on a prototype Infraterra ship, the Yggdrasil. Onboard that ship, deep beneath Carrion, she became the reluctant CEO of QHI and de facto owner of the last, mobile fighting force on the planet. With urging from advisors, she held a board meeting onboard Yggdrasil, changing the name of the corporation to Quistgaard War Industries and forming an organization termed the Quistgaard Liberation Front.

QHI was in possession of a number of undelivered Infraterra vessels, which Ryn crewed with a mixture of surviving QHI employees and the few remaining officers of the defeated Manx Second Order. Leaving a small force behind to harry Triad forces, Ryn fled to her holdings in Light.

After regrouping in Light, Ryn made contact with the Army of the Solthai, which the QLI assisted in retreating from several battles, providing evacuation via Infraterra. Through this she met Ted Payvern, who she would eventually marry when the war was over.

Eventually the QLI succeeded in driving the Triad off of Blaenau Gwent, though attempts to root them out of the Crescent continent were not as well met. In the chaos after Blaenau Gwent was liberated, a new, fledgling state was formed, called the Confederated States of Man which consisted of all the old holdings of the Republic of Man sans the Territories. Ryn was elected president as a figurehead, though she proved as headstrong in that role as she had as CEO of QWI or Brigadier General of the QLF.

During the Battle of Contac, Ryn served as captain onboard a spaceborne Yggdrasil and commanded a fleet of Reaver-propulsed infraterra vessels and defected Voidfleet ships. They assisted in the defeat of the larger Triad fleet using a Unity Device which Ryn had earlier used to fight the Triad on Blaenau Gwent.

After the war Ryn served out her term as President of the CSM and then retired from both political and military life.
