Needle Weapons

Needle weaponry was developed by the Grand Army,Tasnica Republic, and others during the Great War. These weapons are the most widespread and common in the Web, being the mainstay of Kuat, Saeder-Krupp, and numerous other arms manufacturers. In some form or another, needle weapons are employed by almost every major power in the Web. They are efficient, rarely jam, and can hold sizeable magazines. Unlike various laser weapons, most industrialized nations can easily produced comparatively 'low tech' needlers in large quantities, and unlike magitek weapons, they don't require steady access to magilyte. However, they lack the raw firepower of energy weapons employed by the Guardians or the armor-piercing capabilities of gravitic weapons. Needle weapons are employed both as small arms (as discussed here) and in enlarged weapons used on tanks and battlesuits.

NPR-9 Needle “Crazy Horse” 10mm Revolver

The NPR-9 is a Kuat pistol that some officers in the Esper United Soldiery’s Special Forces use, but is primarily preferred by the field agents of the Esperian Civil Intelligence Department and police officers throughout the Esper Union. The Crazy Horse is also used throughout the Web by police departments and paramilitary groups. The Crazy Horse is an eight-shooter revolver that packs a heavy punch, though it is not as accurate as some pistols. It can also be mounted with a silencer and an elongated barrel to add accuracy to the revolver. The Crazy Horse can also carry armor piercing or explosive rounds, or rubber bullets for use in riot control. Since it is a revolver, it only has a semi-automatic setting.

Eagle Research “Desert Wyvern” .44 Magnum Pistol

Olivawk-based Eagle Research’s Desert Wyvern is a new entry to the pistol market, and has been adopted in limited numbers by the Esper United Soldiery, as well as other militaries, such as the Sky Riders Aerospace Navy, Grand Army, Republican Marine Corps, and nations throughout Crystal. It has an eight round magazine and carries another two rounds inside its especially large firing chamber. The Desert Wyvern is given only to members of the Special Forces, including the (insert Esperian spec ops groups here). It is the largest pistol in the Web, and comes with a dark grey finish. The .44 Magnum round is a chemically propelled bullet that has the largest bore of a personal arm in the Web; the large shell can cause massive trauma to unarmored targets, typically tearing away limbs and ripping out vital organs in a single shot. The round can also pierce battlesuit and body armor easily, and is even somewhat functional against piercing light vehicular armor. It can also use .50 caliber armor-piercing rounds that can tear through anything up to the armor mounted upon Leo II tanks. It only carries a semi-automatic setting.

NSE-1 Needle “Jeremiah” 7mm Light Sub-machinegun

Kuat Consortium’s NSE-1 Jeremiah is a light sub-machinegun used by the Special Forces of the Esper United Soldiery, the civil defense and police forces of the Esper Union, and the field agents of the Esperian Civil Intelligence Department. It is also sometimes given to officers and sergeants in the field, though the NSE-2 Stanton is generally preferred. It is only slightly larger and bulkier than a pistol. It was created because of the tendency of gravitic shells to jam in smaller personal arms. The Kuat weapon has low piercing power, but an excellent rate of fire in the automatic setting. Its forty round magazine, plus another four in the firing chamber, allow for a large number of bursts from the sub-machinegun before needing to reload. The Jeremiah has a semi-automatic and an automatic setting.

NSE-2 Needle “Stanton” 8mm Sub-machinegun

The NSE-2 Stanton is another sub-machinegun produced by Kuat Consortium for the Esper United Soldiery. Unlike the smaller Jeremiah, the Stanton is widely used throughout the EUS. It is carried by at least one man per squad in both the Esperian Naval Marines and the Esperian Airmobile Regulars, typically by Sergeants and Corporals, and sometimes by platoon officers. Its size is roughly that of a light rifle, and includes an elongated barrel that gives it more accuracy than the Jeremiah, as well as a wooden or metal stock. It can carry four rounds in its firing chamber, and its magazines carry thirty-six bullets, allowing the Stanton to maintain a steady rate of fire with little reloading. The seven-millimeter needle rounds have less piercing power than gravitic rifles and pistols, but the Stanton is excellent as an anti-personnel weapon. Like the smaller Jeremiah, it has semi-automatic and automatic settings.

NRE-1 Needle “Capricorn” 10mm Sniper Rifle

The NRE-1 Capricorn sniper rifle is a weapon designed and invented by Kuat Consortium, and is one of two rifles typically given to snipers in the Esperian Naval Marines, the Airmobile Regulars, and Special Forces of the Esper United Soldiery. The Capricorn uses magazines of ten rounds and can keep another in the chamber. The rifle has the very impressive range of a mile and a half, and can cause massive trauma to unarmored targets. It can also generally pierce through battlesuits and light armor. The precision of the Capricorn is excellent, and the rifle can be assisted by a variety of rifle scopes that all include telescopic vision, but can also have night vision, ultraviolet displays, infrared vision, and laser targeting.
