Mercenary unit of former Grand Army officers and soldiers, led by Maximillian Veers, a Sub-General serving with the Grenadiers. The Moonslayers take their name from their a symbol, a sword laid over the moon, an inversion of the sword-and-sun logo of the Grand Army. The Moonslayers trace their origins to the Leviathan War, when Veers, disgusted with the GA's weak reponse to the war, led a mutiny. He was no doubt emboldened by the vacuum in GA leadership; Celiose Cole was in Aryth on vacation at the time, and almost all other high-ranking GA commanders were millions of miles away conducting war games on a remote planet. He managed to take enough forces to form a unit that the GA would label an Army, including a good mix of Grenadiers, Regulars, tanks, and artillery, as well as some forces from the Luftwaffe and Kriegsnavee. The Moonslayers were hired by the Scandian League to fight a rearguard action in Damcyan. Although they performed well in combat, the government of Damcyan was near collapse. The Moonslayers have recently been hired by the Tasnica Republic to bolster defenses in their territories of Ticondera.

The Moonslayers still maintain many of their old GA-made weapons at a high level of readiness, but since the no longer have access to new weapons they have come to also use weapons manufactured by corporations such as the Kuat Consortium.

As the GA continues to downsize with budget cuts, many former GA soldiers sign up with the Moonslayers. Ironically, the Moonslayers have grown even as the Grand Army itself has shrunk. There's even talk of setting up a training camp to recruit soldiers directly. The Moonslayers are one of the Web's largest mercenary units, able to field several Regular, Grenadier, and Tank regiments, as well as a smattering of fighter and ground attack squadrons.
