Matangan

Matangans are a race of humanoid mushrooms who live in the upperlands forest in the Tasnica Republic. These creatures evolved from plantlife long ago, and their race first attained some semblance of civilization shortly after the First Mana War, and they founded their own kingdom. Some barbarous degenerates of this race still roam the forests of the Mana Dimension, but most Matangans are now civilized. This race was almost wiped out in the Great War due to Dark Wrath campaigns in the Upperlands forest, but are experiencing a resurgence to to their rapid fungal bloom mode of reproduction and partly due to Tasnican influence.

In Alter-Mana, no members of this race are civilized. They roam in the Sprite Woods, hunting those who become lost. These degenerates have no language, little intelligence, and are twice as savage and fierce as their cousins in the Mana Dimension.
