Lith My'athar

Known as the City of Dark Waters, the Dark Elven holding of Lith My'athar is a bustling port city in the Upper Underground which straddles the mouth of the River Tethryn, where it begins at Lake Vendariss, approximately underneath the Mist Valley on the surface. It is also the sister city of Zhanduril, formed by House Athar in antiquity when their civil war with several other houses threatened to destroy the fledgling City of Shadows.

It's architecturally unusual, and darkly beautiful even by Drow standards; it is built on a series of islands crossing the river, with canals criss-crossing the city. Lirae Athar, current Matron Mother of House Athar, rules the city. Historically, Lith My'athar's status as "sister city" has meant that its ruling Matrons have largely been little more than vassals of the Dread Lady, however Lirae has chafed at this even more than most. House Nasadra, the city's long time Second House, lurks in the shadows seeking to exploit the fractured relationship between Lirae and Ambika for their own house's gain.
