Jim was at university with Aly Halberg, Keaton Error and Maerius Chikara on a full ride baseball scholarship. He often made a habit of hanging out at Aly's dorm, since she, Kara Tuinne and Maerius were the only girls on campus who didn't treat him like a god. Keaton, for his part, treated him like a self-absorbed jerk.
For some reason he thought of Keaton as a friend, and helped him rescue his sister from captivity in Crystal.
After university he was drafted into the majors and went to play for a farm team in a suburb outside of his old home town of Nikeah.
