Born in Baron, Gage Rizett joined up with the Red Wings at the first opportunity. The son of a commoner such as Gage would rarely be allowed access to the elite air force, however, the demands of the [{Great War]] allowed him to enter service. It was the Red Wing airships, along with the Paladins, which managed to hold the Ticonderans at bay in Baron for many years. Eventually, though, the forces of darkness triumphed, leading to a diaspora of Baron troops. Gage’s exploits, though, were well known, and when the GA began to build a Luftwaffe from Vectoral Empire technology, Gage was the obvious choice for this new air force. Although Celiose’s original vision was mainly tactical support, Gage was enthused about the possibilities for high-altitude, heavy strategic bombers. Gage developed a doctrine of ‘city busting’ to strike directly at an opponent’s industrial base. Cole was impressed; the theory fit with his ‘Total War’ concept, so he built a fleet of Tacfortress bombers, stationed in Trianable. The strategic bombing offensive contributed to the GA’s victory in the Great War. The Tacfortresses also earned their keep in the Hivan War, where they were one of the only weapons in the GA’s arsenal capable of taking down ‘the Big Ones’, the monstrous oversized Hivan siege engines. The Luftwaffe has been hard hit by budget cuts, and this apostle of air power sometimes looks out-of-date in an age of space fleets. Some have criticized Celiose’s decision to maintain a heavy bomber force, Gage’s baby, and some also take issue with Gage’s assertion that a purely atmospheric fighter will almost always defeat a more general-issue ‘aerospace’ type. Some people see the Tacfortress (and Gage) as emblematic of a GA cadre that were once great innovators but have since become calcified in their ways. Whatever their modern applicability, however, Gage’s ‘city busting’ theories influenced almost all later air and space power theorists. Recently, Gage has taken on a role in helping rebuld Medina's armed forces. The Strato Wings not only incorporate his classic 'city busting' tactics but also incorporate his new theories of strategic air power. He has jumped into the role with gusto, the challenge rejuvenating his post-war life.
