Duelist Exercise

Massive exercise conducted by the Grand Army that lasted almost a year. It was intended to simulate a planetary assault scenario. The GA had located an uninhabited extrasolar planet which mysteriously had an atmosphere capable of supporting life for this purpose. The attacking side was commanded by Rimmel Coward and possessed the Second, Seventh, and Fifth Armies. The defending side was commanded by Model Steinmetz who had the Sixth and Third Armies. Victor Velasco commanded the assault fleet. Partway through the scenario a relief fleet carrying First Army attempted to raise the siege and land troops. Torstensson Lenart, Gage Rizett, and Howe Lingane served as war game administrators and judges.

Most significantly, the Duelist Exercise put most of Celiose's most forceful commanders out of touch with the Web during the time of the Leviathan War, leading to relatively weak leadership in the GA during that critical time.
