A race of shapechangers that are either native to the Gate Dimension, or else have just happened to only appear there. They have shape changing abilities similar to the Shapeshifters of Carrion, but all of the Dopplegangers that are known to have existed in the Web do tend to have a somewhat uniform natural appearance: they are blue-skinned and lanky, with long pointed noses and ears and have short, bristly, wire-like white hair.
Unlike Carrionese Shapeshifters, Dopplegangers are able to assume forms outside of their general mass range, but they are not able to mimic specific individuals. The full extent of Doppleganger shapechanging is not known.
There have only been three Dopplegangers known in the Web:
- Sprigg -- a companion of the El Nidoan hero Serge c. 1020 AD
- Spriggan -- Sprigg's grandson/offspring/nephew/cousin; currently employed with the Earthblade Mercenaries
- Eli Cromlich -- Leader of the Doomguard, and allied with Dregoth and John Dario
