Diazen is the son of Matron Alysse Fey-Branche by one of her numerous incubi lovers. In addition to the usual training noble males receive at Tier Breche, Alysse also trained her son in the fine art of seduction. He excelled at everything he did, in great part due to his demonic blood, and also because he learned from his mother that sleeping your way to the top was a perfectly acceptable method of advancement. The notoriously insatiable Alysse adored her son, perhaps a little too much, but in time she grew bored with him as she eventually does with all her lovers, and turned to a promising youth named Tathlyn, the sole survivor of House Zauviir's fall. Incensed at his fall from favor, Diazen made overtures to Phaelarn, and joined Veld'Z'ress before his rival could kill him, earning the rank of Shadow Master in record time--much to the dismay of his Veld'Z'ress brothers.

Diazen is an extremely talented swordsman and mage, and is valued by Phaelarn for that as much for his sexual prowess. For Diazen's part, he is perhaps far too attached to Phaelarn. He is unusually possessive of the mercenary leader, and flies into a jealous rage at even the mention of his other lovers both within and without Veld'Z'ress. In particular, Diazen reserves his deepest loathing for Shar Veladorn, whom he suspects of treachery toward Phaelarn but cannot conclusively prove. He's been gunning for him for quite some time, though, and a confrontation is inevitable, though killing Shar--one of Phaelarn's favorites--may prove to be a delicate matter.
