Veld'Z'ress

The notorious elite Dark Elven mercenary band, founded and led by Phaelarn. Its name translates to "Shadow Power", and for decades it has been just that in Zhanduril. Its membership is mostly comprised of houseless males, survivors of the internecine noble wars in Zhanduril, though there are also a great deal of common born males in the group. No one knows exactly how many agents Phaelarn has at his disposal at any given time. Membership is kept strictly confidential, to the point where only Phaelarn knows who every member of the band is. What is known is that Veld'Z'ress agents are superior fighters, as cunning as they are skilled, and more often than not have been a lynchpin in the success of many a noble house's battles.

Veld'Z'ress lives only for or'an. It is not religiously driven (quite a few Veld'Z'ressen are closet followers of Vhaeraun, not that Phaelarn cares), nor does it pledge loyalty to any particular Zhanduran house. Indeed, there has been more than one instance where Phaelarn has literally switched sides in the middle of a battle because the rival matron mother gave him a better offer.
