Days of Wrath

A twenty-month long period of recent Theban history, held to have begun on the day of the Red Dawn offensive, and ended when Rameses, the prince of Tawry, claimed the mantle of Peraya (king) at his return. During this time, Thebes suffered the loss of its Empress (the only ruler they had ever known), a major civil war and invasion from no less than three foriegn powers and the kingdom of Tawry was completly overrun.

At the beginning of the Days of Wrath, a military alliance between Tawry and Atalanis seized control of the Theban province of Noricum. This happened almost simultaneously with the Red Dawn offensive, a bid to cripple Tawry's military strength by means of aerial bombardment. Thebes was aware of collusion between their two enemies, but not of their specific plans. The aim of the Red Dawn offensive was to make certain that in the looming conflict, Thebes would only have to be worried about Atalanis. In this, it was largely successful, but in the long run, this only made it easier for the forces of the Orkish Tribal Union to conquer the kingdom.

The Days of Wrath were brought to an end when Thebes' ruling triumvirate negotiated a mutual defense treaty against the Orks with their neighbors and managed to displace the Usurper. With Thebes' civil war resolved, the allied powers managed to expel the Orkish Tribal Union from Tawry (but not the Theban province of Epirus). The return of Rameses to his homeland after an absence of almost two years is held to be the end of this bloody period of history. (As Atticus is reported to have said "at least we're not fighting with each other anymore.")
