Ivan Gletkin

Ivan Gletkin is Chief of S/31, the intelligence service of the Scandian League. This post has had a historically high mortality rate; Travin Rumanski doesn't trust anyone with that much access to secret information.

Appropriate for someone in his station, he is an enigma. He studiously avoids any public appearances; few outside the Communist Protectorate even know what he looks like, and there are no known recent pictures. Gletkin is a seemingly faceless bureaucrat, a true organization man who has submerged whatever personality he has within the mission of S/31. Tireless and efficient, Gletkin takes an expansive view of S/31 operations. Not only does he conduct espionage and special operations, it is believed that he directs the influence of politics of foreign countries through "active measures", including propaganda and funding of certain political groups.

A member of the Organization of Winter. Boris Dalienin was largely responsible for his promotion to S/31 Chief. Gletkin was just the sort of person Dalienin wanted--someone so utterly devoted to his job, to the League, and to communism as to be incorruptible.

Within S/31, he uses the callsign "Control".
