Geld (Legends)

Currency is, of course, a Tasnican/Taznikanze invention, at least in the World of Mana. As the Taznikanze began to trade with more and more peoples in a wider variety of goods, relying on barter became unsuitable. A universal medium of exchange, something that was "good anywhere", was needed. The solution were the first geld pieces. This were small spheres minted with precious metals (mostly gold, though some silver). These were minted to specified weights; a five-geld piece, for example, would haver always have a certain amount of gold in it. The spherical craftsmanship, along with a special stamp, verified the authenticity of the geld piece. Counterfeiting operations, of course, did exist, but a seasoned trader would know the weight and feel of a proper geld piece.
