Regulars
Regulars is a term in the Grand Army and Esper Union for units armed with magitek armor. They derive their name from the stated goal of early military modernizers that the fearsome magitek weapons should be available to the 'regular soldiers'.
Grand Army
The GA inhereted a significant force of Regulars from the Tasnican REF; early on they constituted nearly 4/5 of the combat force. However, weaknesses soon became apparent; the Regulars could not dig on like conventional infantry (hence the creation of the Grenadiers) and were vulnerable to more heavily armed vehicles (hence the rise of the GA Tank Troops). They were, in essence, a jack of all trades and a master of none. After the the GA's disastrous battle over Ticondera exposed these limitations the size of Regulars in the force was drawn down somewhat; today there are about even number of Regulars and Grenadiers in the force.
The Regulars were the first GA branch to focus on the MABS (Modular Armament Bay System) that would come to dominate GA weapons systems in the late thirties/early forties. These systems allowed the magitek armor to be rapidly configured with different weapons as per the pilots preference for loadout.
