The part about certain heavy metals increasing lethality is true--look at the real world wiki under "Radiation poisoning", sub-topic "shielding". It's really funny because tungsten is one of the metals they specifically reference, and back in 96 I specifically said that SLCM armor uses tungsten alloy.
