Celiose "Sel" Harcourt is a young member of the Grand Casar Far Patrol, a militia that patrols the countryside surrounding Grand Casar. He is a second generation Avalonian, born on that colony and having never seen the Web of Worlds with his own eyes. He is a headstrong, cocky young man with a sense of curiosity about the Web at large. He was one of the Avalonians to be on hand when the Reinhardt crashed to the surface.
History
Celiose Harcourt is a second generation Avalonian, born after his parents relocated to the colony world. His mother, Serina, came from the Federal Kingdom of Carrion. His father, Bertrand, came from the Kingdom of Baron. He was named after the Generalissimo of the nascent Grand Army, before the Great War was even won. He was given the nickname "Sel" at a young age. He enjoyed a happy upbringing in the town of Grand Casar, his hometown, but he has always been restless. His father shared stories with him of life as a Dragoon, training his son in the same; he also heard stories of his namesake. Sel wanted to see the world at large.
When he was ten, Old Man Ruger and Kupello came into Grand Casar. Ruger grudgingly took the boy under his wing, teaching him to shoot. Sel was something of a hellraiser around town; he got into no small amount of trouble with his friends, wandering farther than was safe, and being cocksure enough to think he could handle anything. Ruger didn't reign this in, but he helped give the boy some focus.
When he turned seventeen, he joined the Far Patrol, the militia responsible for patrolling the lands around Grand Casar and beyond. Sel has prospered here; he earns a steady living doing long-range patrols and he is able to funnel that wanderlust and energy into his job.
Personal Life
Sel is a fairly friendly person, but his cocky attitude and tendency to wander off have made it hard for him to make deep friendships. He has a lot of acquaintances, but few really close friends. He doesn't seem to mind; while he can act outgoing and confident, that hides a tendency to value privacy. He is close to Ruger and Kupello; the moogle is his superior in the Far Patrol and someone that he looks up to a fair amount. He also remains close to his parents, who run one of the farms on the outskirts of town. Sel still helps with the harvest, despite his duties on the Far Patrol, and lives at home with them.
Special Skills/Abilities
Sel is a Dragoon by training, though he lacks the full range of knowledge and tradition shared by Baron's Dragoons. He is still quite skilled with a spear and can do the classic jumping attacks. He is also skilled with a rifle, thanks to Old Man Ruger's training, and combines the two with his rifle with its large, bladed bayonet. He is also a good tracker and outdoorsman, as his job requires him to be.
