Lex is descended from the old Scandian nobility, and is in fact one of the last members of the Dark Dragon Clan (his family name is derived from Pashka the Black, the dragon believed to be his line's progenitor). His lineage can be traced back for thousands of years, and his family even had a short-lived dynasty on the imperial Scandian throne in centuries past. However, the Pashkarovs were forced to flee Scande entirely during the Dawn Revolution, when the proletariat rose up and began slaughtering the old Dark Dragon aristocracy. Most of the family perished in the violence, and Lex's parents, Grigori and Veronika, barely escaped to Tasnica with their lives.
Lex was born in Centwerp and spent most of his childhood there in Tasnica, where the family has remained in exile. Though he was exceedingly bright and enjoyed learning, he hated school due to his aversion to structure and routine. To the chagrin of his parents, Lex dropped out of high school at age 16 and ran off to Scande, seeking to uncover his family's history, which was pointedly never discussed. However, after some entanglements with Party authorities nearly got him killed, Lex fled to Ticondera where he held down various odd jobs trying to make ends meet, eventually hiring himself out as a mercenary and getting entangled in Bonro's Underworld. It was through the underground club scene that he met Rachel Garvey, then drummer of the gothic/industrial band Tasnika Uber Alles, and the two became fast friends, saving each other's skins on more than one occasion. One night, TUA's bassist was a no show at a big show, and Rachel persuaded Lex--who'd never picked up a bass before--to fill in. Lex picked it up surprisingly fast and was so brilliant, despite flying by the seat of his pants, that he was asked to permanently join the group.
TUA broke up several months later due to creative differences, and Lex was in several more bands of no particular note, until Fabian Lysandir came to town and got into the local goth scene. A self-described manwhore, Lex needed no particular persuading to join the gorgeous half-Elf's new band, Moonchild, though he likes to tell bawdy stories about how Fabian convinced him to join the band.
