Nickname for three major powers of Gate: Guardia, Medina, and Atreus. Collectively, the Gate Three were perhaps the strongest of the Great Powers at the beginning of the 30s. The Gate Three had large advantages over the rest of the Web; they had been spared the destruction of the Great War and developed highly advanced technologies, including superior computers, space colonies and robots. As the first people to discover the Alter Dimension they had a massive advantage in securing allies and resources from the Fringe. They also were responsible for creating the Web's first space fleets and colonies.
However, Medina's internal difficulties (see Medinan Civil Wars and a falling out with Atreus (who wished to join the Tasnica Republic) led to them being eclipsed by the Esper Union dominated Fascist Pact. The Atreus crisis was particularly troublesome; Atreus and Guardia nearly went to war until the mediation of Rhodes Palmerston offered a compromise whereby Guardia bought out Atreus's share of the original colonies. Guardia still managed to retain a role as great power and organized other treaties such as GATO.
