Contrary to popular misconception, while she has long since reconciled with her family, Shana has no claim whatsoever to the Hyrulian throne. While she was pardoned for her many crimes by her brother-in-law, [[Alexander|Link]], in his first act upon becoming king, the outcry was such that she was forced to abdicate her rank as Princess of Hyrule as the price for her pardon (or else face mob justice by an outraged public).

There is a small but vocal movement in Hyland dedicated to restoring her title and birthright, but it has long been a third rail of sorts in Republic politics, even among monarchists. Supporters contend that Shana was a victim of Ganon's abuse, and as such shouldn't possibly be held responsible for her actions; they also point to her heroism during the Great War as proof that she's worthy of forgiveness. Detractors believe she switched sides out of self-preservation and see her as little more than an opportunist who never really paid for her heinous crimes because she married the right person. For her part, Shana has no desire to get her title back, as she feels she doesn't deserve it and it would be pointless. Curiously, both Alexander and her sister Zelda are in support of it.

Shana was born the younger, twin sister of Queen Zelda, a princess of the House Goldmoon. When she was three years old, she was abducted by the vicious warlord and sorcerer, Ganon Dragmire, in a scheme to gain the Triforce of Wisdom, and thus gain control of Hyrule. When King Marc refused to give up the Triforce, Ganon decided Shana was far too valuable a pawn to kill, and brainwashed her, training her in dark magics and various fighting techniques. Her molding came to fruition when she assassinated her mother, Queen Xelena, at the ripe age of six. At that point, Shana was used as a trained assassin, and was Ganon's most formidable and valuable asset. All the while, he fed her resentments about her apparent abandonment by her family, and she developed an insatiable desire for revenge. In time, his magical and psychological manipulation of her became unnecessary. She came to take pleasure in her role as his trump card, and grew to be as cruel and sadistic as her master.

When Shana was sixteen, Ganon formally took her as his bride and together they wreaked havoc on the kingdom of Hyrule for years. However, the first turning point in her life came when she was ordered to abduct Zelda in a second bid to obtain the Triforce of Wisdom. Shana grew to resent Ganon's growing obsession with her sister, and this resentment would boil over when the abduction plot was foiled by a wandering adventurer named Link.

When the Great War started, Shana led Ganon's force of assassins, but she was eventually captured by the fledgling GA forces. After a long series of interrogations, many of which were conducted personally by Celiose, Shana quite literally broke. She grew to care for Celiose, and scaled Mount Ordeals, becoming a Light Dragoon, and joined the fight against the Dark Gods quite eagerly. She even managed to reconcile with Zelda, though that only came in time.

As the GA's forces prepared to march on Scande, however, Ganon, then commander of the Dark Dragon army, was able to use the now-dormant telepathic foothold he created in Shana's mind in order to bring her back to him. Celiose, Link and Zelda conducted a rescue mission along with Chrystalis, and after a terrible struggle in which the Goddess and Ganon vied for Shana's mind, Chrystalis completely severed Ganon's ties with her. Celiose killed Ganon, and all was well.

Shana married Celiose and in time bore him a child, Erdeny, whose growth was artificially accelerated as part of a GA experiment, over Shana's strenuous objections. Her mysterious disappearance following the end of the Great War has haunted Shana for years. She is vastly overprotective of their second child, Amitam, and enjoys her quiet, unassuming life as a mom.

Contrary to popular misconception, while she has long since reconciled with her family, Shana has no claim whatsoever to the Hyrulian throne. While she was pardoned for her many crimes by her brother-in-law, Link, in his first act upon becoming king, the outcry was such that she was forced to abdicate her rank as Princess of Hyrule as the price for her pardon (or else face mob justice by an outraged public).
