Emil Viper was the Dragoon General and military leader of Acacia and El Nido prior to the Cleansing Wars. He was a contemporary of Doan Pendouris, and rose to power during the Syndicate Wars by siding with Arris against Trann-occupied Porre. In exchange for the aid of elite Acacian Dragoon riders, Doan promised Viper complete independence and sovereignty for El Nido. Doan held to that oath, causing no small amount of bitterness and jealousy among the Chorrans (to whom Doan made a similar promise, which was not kept).
Viper met his end when the Defilers invaded El Nido. Having watched all of his Devas except Cartreo LaMont being brutally killed by Rajaat, the Warbringer himself ended Viper's life when he refused to help him find his daughter Clarice Viper.
