A Highlander who served in MASS, then became King of the Highlands, and finally assumed the identity of the wretch Scullo in an attempt to assassinate Janus Cage. He was slain by Alchendic.

Personal

Terek was a Highlander with a deep amber colored fur. He stood over six feet tall, and weighed around 185 lbs. Like all Highlanders, he was lithe and wiry. He was born in 4 WR, on Alter-Dragon.

Early Life

Terek was the son of Trienda'th of the Ateles clan and Mangkari, chieftain of the Saimiri clan. He was born into a time of strife in the Highlands, when clan alliances and loyalties were constantly shifting. Losing his father at a young age, Terek developed a solitary nature, and his fighting skills were honed over the constant battles that raged between the clans for survival.

Spy and Secret Operative

When Alter Dragon was discovered by the rest of the Web, the Medinan spymaster Mako came to the planet and recruited there almost exclusively to fill the ranks of the new Medinan Agency of Special Services. Terek spent two years training at the spy school of Medialuna, and a further year abroad in Tasnica and Esper. When he came to Medina, he took a position of prominence in the secret intelligence organization, becoming one of Mako's most trusted agents.

Return to the Highlands

When Tyurin Cage was elected Prime Minister, he distrusted MASS and its members, and the organization found itself in constant conflict with the new administration. Terek took this opportunity to return to the Highlands, which were engaged in a vicious ceremony of ascension. The clans, deeply shaken by the effect that offworlders were having on their planet, had met under the flag of truce in order to choose a king to lead them. The clans had rarely suffered centralized rule, and had not had a king since Lagobu the Great, even though the Queen of the Seagibbon clan claimed dominion (she was largely ignored, even though she made her residence in Highfort. In a days long trial, many Highlanders attempted to unravel the secrets of the Tomb of Lagobu, searching for the crown of the dead king that would signify their ascension. In the end, only Terek was successful.

Terek's rule was instantly cemented by the pledge of loyalty from Trubolon and his Indri clan. The Indri would come to be regarded as Terek's elite guard, and from this grew the organizations known as The Daggers. Terek took a wife and as king, attempted to establish diplomatic ties with the Core nations. He also attempted to establish a modern military (including a small space fleet) in the Highlands, but this was met with staunch resistance from his people, and never materialized. Internal struggles and conflicts marred Terek's rule. Trubolon led a rebellion and successfully deposed him. Though presumed dead by his subjects, Terek fled Alter-Dragon, and the clans broke apart again.

Alter-Ego and Janus Cage

Terek wandered amongst the colonies for a long time before eventually hooking back up with Mako, who was hatching a plan to free Medina from the tyrannic grasp of Janus Cage. Upon hearing the plan Terek volunteered for the most difficult and dangerous role. He shaved all of his fur off, donned a tattered cloak and walked bent-over, with a hunch. He became known as Scullo, an altogether wretched creature. He returned to Medina and, over time, earned Cage's loyalty by carrying out his orders without questions, even if they included the slaughter or murder of innocents.

It was during this time that Terek began to lose himself in his new identity. He so fully became Scullo, in order to earn Cage's fickle trust, that he hovered constantly on the edge of madness.

Death

After serving as Janus Cage's personal bodyguard and assassin for years, Terek sprung the trap that Mako had devised, leading Cage into an encounter at the top of the Temple of the Prism in Zealingrad that should have left the dictator dead. Their plans were foiled, however, by the appearance of Alchendic, a Dark Dargon knight from Alter-Dragon who bore some mysterious connection fo Janus Cage. In attempting to carry out the assassination, Terek was slain by Alchendic.

Tragically, at the end of his life Terek was consumed by his alter-identity as Scullo.
