Roxanne
Biological
Full name: Roxanne (Note: Before the time of the Republic, the Tasnikanze did not use surnames. Patronymics were used; the father in the case of males, the mother in the case of females. Roxanne would therefore be “Roxanne, Sigrun’s Daughter.” However, the Valkyries were sometimes used referred to as “Zahd’s Daughter”, the god apparently taking precedence over the mother. Roxanne seems to prefer being called simply Roxanne.)

Roxanne is a Valkyrie, born of the coupling of the mortal woman Sigrun with Zahd, the Tasnikanze god of War and the Seas. Her hair is in long braids and she wears the winged helmet distinctive of Valkyries. Valkyries were one of the few figures in Tasnikanze mythology to take the side of humans regularly. They were supposedly immortal, sterile, and had some degree of power over storms and the winds. All of them were described as superlative warriors. The Taznikanze named their stars after Valkyries; Roxanne is named for the North Star. As such, she is considered particularly important to sailors and often appears in Tasnikanze sagas as a guide. Roxanne even had her own epic, The Story of Roxanne , but it was unfortunately lost during the Dark Age. Recently, however, Roxanne arranged for it to be re-found and published. Roxanne says she’s working for Rainere these days, helping to train the Mana Knight. Some of modernity surprises her, and her manners, forged in a more barbaric age, are a little bit shocking to some. Roxanne's day job these days is a Professor of Tasnican Studies at the University of Albrook. (Where she goes by Roxanne Zodsdottir).
