Nagpai

A race of avian humanoids native to Alter-Mana, sometimes referred to as "Kimono Birds" because of the ornate robes they wear. They have bodies with a general humanoid configuration, with feathery arms and taloned feet, and heads that vaguely resemble either owls or buzzards. Nagpai plumage ranges between white and various shades of gray.

Nagpai are natural spellcasters, specifically adept in summoning, necromantic and wind-elemental magics. Though flightless, Nagpai are capable of effecting a natural levitation power, and most often use this to get around. Most sapients regard Nagpai as lazy, as they levitate rather than walking under their own power, and summon monsters to fight for them rather than engaging in physical combat themselves. The truth of the matter is that Nagpai are not so much lazy as incredibly self-absorbed, believing that walking or fighting under their own power is beneath them; that they are beings who are inherently more significant than other lifeforms thanks to their innate gift of spellcasting.

Universally reviled, the only place one finds Nagpai in the modern era is on the island of Bucca. They have been driven away from everyplace else.
