Xiao Tian, also known as Tian of the Red Lotus, was a loyal samurai and Red Mage of the late Kai Dynasty of ancient Xsia. The sapphire-haired warrior is widely held to be one of the greatest samurai who ever lived, known specially for his nigh-supernatural speed and agility. According to legend he was so fast that he could draw his sword and kill a man in the span of a single breath.

Xiao Tian, the son of distinguished Provincial Governor Liang Jian Min, was granted command of the Emperor's prestigious Red Lotus Brigade, an elite order of Red Mages in direct service to the Celestial Throne. Their sacred charge was the Defense of Heaven, and they were often called on to perform delicate tasks, particularly those which required great discretion. Xiao Tian disappeared seemingly into the ether during his final mission, passing into legend.
