Kenzo was born in the Gate Dimension's ancient past, but when Lavos struck Gate III he and his mother were catapulted forward in tme, just outside of the city of New Dorino in the Kingdom of Guardia. Kenzo's mother did not survive, but the infant Kenzo did.
Kenzo was found and taken in by a farmer named Salek Cardonorn and his wife Jenise, who raised the boy as their own. With his phenomenal strength, Kenzo was of great help to his surrogate parents on the farm. A visit to a fortune teller, inspired largely by Kenzo's curiosity about his ridiculously preternatural strength, changed Kenzo's life forever. The fortune teller (who was, in fact, Norstein Bekkler in disguise) revealed the truth of Kenzo's origins to him. He revealed what he learned to his parents, and would eventually adopt his tribal name as a surname, in place of the name of the parents who raised him. Feeling the call of the warrior, as if by instinct, he knew he was made to be a soldier.
When he came of age he entered Fort Arris Academy and joined the GDF. He fought alongside the GA Sixth Army during the Hivan War, and following the conclusion of the war he transferred from GDF into the GA Grenadiers.
Through the course of his service, Kenzo met SAGA Lieutenant Colonel Naten Schlieffen, and the two formed a friendship. They left Grand Army service together and made a career for themselves as privateers. The pair was briefly associated with Ross Payvern, who was avoiding a beat-down from Marshal T.O. Halberg for violating his daughter.
Kenzo is naturally much stronger than modern humans, although he does tend to be somewhat more dim-witted. His untrained brawling style instinctually mirrors combat styles used by the forebears of modern Gatian humans millions of years ago. He is an archetypical thug who mostly relies on Schlieffen for leadership and direction.
